Coast Files is a podcast bringing you tales of mystery and true crime from the sea. Growing up in Nova Scotia, Canada, Chantel, Lindsay, and Meghan have always loved the ocean. With that love also comes a very rational fear and intrigue. Did you know we’ve only explored about 5% of our oceans? This leaves a lot to uncover and a lot to discuss. Join us as we dive into it! (Pun intended.)

Chantel

Born and raised in Halifax, Chantel’s journey took her wandering across Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, eventually settling in Toronto, Ontario. After getting a Business Management diploma, she quickly realized that offices weren’t for her. She continued to perfect her comedic skills as a server/bartender and made a surprising (and successful) career shift into nursing.
Chantel’s love of the water came from her childhood summers which were spent in lakes, quarries, and oceans – once stumbling upon rusted shotguns in the deep that sparked a lifelong crime curiosity. As a preteen, the movie The Sixth Sense ignited her love for all things spooky and started the liberation from her cult-like upbringing.
From the mysteries of the ocean to the psychology of serial killers… you name it – she’s all in.
Lindsay
Lindsay was born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She moved to Toronto in 2015 (on a whim because Chantel asked her to move in), then relocated to the USA where she now calls the Windy City home. With an undergrad in criminology and a graduate degree in library and information studies, she’s your go-to lady for digging up old crimes and mysteries. Oh, and during COVID, she casually decided to teach herself coding—no biggie.
As a child growing up in Nova Scotia, Lindsay developed a strong interest in sharks and shipwrecks, like the Titanic. Her love of mystery and true crime traces back to her teenage years of binging shows like Forensic Files and American Justice. This interest is renewed over and over with thanks to shows like Crime Junkie podcast and an endless binge of Netflix true crime documentaries.
Now, teamed up with her besties, Lindsay is ready to uncover the equally terrifying and intriguing mysteries that lie ahead.

Meghan

While being born on the West Coast, Meghan is true-blue Cape Breton Islander from Nova Scotia. She fluttered to St. John’s, NL for a university stint (didn’t stick), pondered life choices in Halifax, and then jetted off to Ontario for a marketing degree. Now, she’s chasing her passion – a degree in criminology.
In the mid 90’s, the movie Scream left an indelible mark on young Meghan. How did she cope? By handcrafting four Scream novellas featuring friends and family. Therapy may or may not have been involved. Finding a book on aliens sealed the deal for another interest. Unsolved Mysteries lead to the understanding that spontaneous human combustion was a real concern, and Forensic Files taught her it’s always the husband.
Meg is ready to dive into oceanic wonders, paranormal tales, and the stories of lesser-known victims of horrible crimes.
